Artist's Statement
Field Studies is a meditation on Landscape. Most of the paintings reference sites I frequently visit, while a few are historic landscapes nuanced by memory. They are a response to our uncertain times, burdened by accelerated climate change, and pay homage to the quiet, unassuming, and subtle beauty of Ontario. The physical landscape will inevitably change, but the painted landscape maintains.
